Earth Day - Adopt A Plant Based Diet

Happy Earth day my fellow earthlings! I think that it's wonderful that we have a day to celebrate the Earth! But I don't think that just one day is enough. We should be conscious of our actions and the affects on our planet everyday. It's so very important to be aware of everything around us. I highly recommend getting interested and finding ways to learn more about how to treat the Earth with the most kindness and compassion possible.

For a while now I've been feeling as if I don't speak out enough about veganism. I want to do more as a vegan so I figured that I'd start today! I'm here today to help you get right into things; to change your life in the most positive way and to improve your overall outlook on life. Fun!

Adopting a plant based diet is the one thing that you can do to make a positive and lasting affect on Earth. One of my favorite documentaries, Cowspiracy, is available for digital download today for only $1! So worth the time and money, I promise. Cowspiracy shows the environmental affects that are results of consuming animal products. Riding your bike, taking shorter showers, turning off all of your lights, etc. are great for the planet but have very minuscule positive impacts compared to the benefits of consuming a plant based diet.

"Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged." -Cowspiracy

The world is in some trouble due to all of the damage done by humans. If we continue down the path that we are on then we are on our way to destruction of the planet. I don't think that anyone wants that. But I also think that a lot of people are unaware of the real damages that have been done and continue to occur each day.

I was unaware of the environmental affects that animal agriculture had on the world prior to becoming vegan. It's not something that the media will share so it's something that you have to come across on your own. I became vegan for the animals after watching Earthlings. Then I began looking deeper into other topics and became educated on the environmental and health benefits of consuming a vegan diet. I am now more passionate about veganism than ever before. I am vegan for the animals, the planet, and myself.

But anyways, I look around and see so much beauty in each day. The newly blossoming trees, the grass becoming green again, the blue skies, and the gray skies too. Everything in nature is so beautiful and unique. Why would we want to destroy it?

We take for granted all of the beauty that surrounds us. It's something that is crucial to become aware of and spend some time grounding back down and becoming grateful for nature. The more time that is spent in nature results in more of a love and appreciation for it. You begin to see things that you've never noticed before and feel connected to the world around you.

Everything that we see around us in nature has the potential to disappear if we continue to abuse the Earth through animal agricultural practices.

We need to take care of our world not only for ourselves but also for future generations. Consuming animal products is not sustainable. I urge you to do one simple thing this Earth Day; watch Cowspiracy. Just watch it and become educated. Formulate your own opinion and thoughts on how you can make the world a better place. It's never too late to start! Why not do it today?

Together we can make a difference and create a thriving, sustainable world!
