It's 6:07 a.m. and I'm here writing this post. This is a rare thing for me. Usually my days start quite differently! I have a busy day ahead of me though and I wanted to get this out of the way. So here we are.
My body is so much on a schedule. I can't sleep in anymore! I think it's ultimately a good thing but when I want to sleep in then it is a bit frustrating. And yes, sleeping in is between like 6-7 a.m. What have I become?! It's so crazy that I've transformed my body into loving mornings, but that's exactly what happened. And honestly, I'm into it.
I've been really enjoying being in silence lately and early mornings are a perfect time for that. It's interesting for me to observe this. Sometimes I'll put on some music or a podcast and be like, "No, wait. I want quiet." And of course other times I do want to listen to podcasts or music. But I think it's cool to observe this part of me that now wants the silence. It gives me space to think or for ideas to pop into my head. More on this later. Right now it's just something to think about and see where it takes me.
For now, let's get to some gratitude!
DAY 260
We spent the afternoon at an anniversary party and afterwards walked to the lake. We weren't there long, but for the time that we were it was such a nice little moment in the day after experiencing all of the party commotion.
DAY 261
Today I did nothing. And it was beautiful. I can't remember the last time I did nothing all day long. I mean, I wrote and read some books. But other than that I just hung out in bed. That's one thing I'm looking forward to with fall coming up; more days like this where I can just hide away for the day.
DAY 262
After my rainy day yesterday I was grateful for the sun today. Plus, all of the sunflowers! We have a ton of sunflowers popping up and I'm obsessed with them.
DAY 263
Somehow Tuesday's have transformed into my biking days?! I don't know when or how but that's a thing now and I'm completely okay with that. I take my bike out to the trail after work and do about a 12 mile ride. It's nice because I rarely see anyone else at that time of day and I can just zone out and do my thing. It's such a nice way to break up the end of the work day and the beginning of the evening.
DAY 264
I used to play around with inversions and arm balances all the time when I first started practicing yoga. I'd mess around until my arms felt like they were going to fall off! I still do play, just not as often for some reason. Tonight I did though, and it was great. Playing around with different things that you practice in your daily practice is so much fun. I love that I can do the same thing over and over again while tweaking it a bit differently each time to see what happens. Yoga, I love it.
DAY 265
I had to go mow grass tonight and in retrospect that's not exactly my idea of fun. But, once I actually do it then I typically enjoy it. It's the same always. Load the mower in the truck, drive there with the windows down while listening to the same CD as always, mow, load it back up, drive back with the windows down listening to the same thing. I'm into it. It's one of those moments where I know that I'll look back on once it's no longer a part of my life and really be glad that it was a part of my life for so long. I'm really working on seeing those moments more and more. You know how you feel nostalgia for things that didn't seem so special at the time? Yeah, I'm trying to notice those times while they're still happening and recognize the good in the situations that I could so easily make bad. But I actively chose not to view them in a negative way. That wouldn't be any fun for anyone involved. So I try to focus on the good and inherently things are often very good.
DAY 266
I made my way to Amazing Cafe today for lunch and it was absolutely lovely! I spent the day in Pittsburgh buying bath bombs, crystals, books, and delicious food. It's been a while since I've spent the day doing random things like this and it was such a nice way to spend a Friday!
That's it for this week! Thanks for joining me. I'd love to hear about your little bits of gratitude from this week as well!
